  • Moving and Life Without Broadband

    Well, I've finally moved into London. Now, I loved Amersham, and I still do, but it's not the ideal town for someone my age. There are fewer pubs to charity shops (at last count there were about 6 charity shops on the high street and one pub anywhere near!) which should maybe go some way towards giving you a picture of the demographic makeup of Amersham. It also had what is probably the only kebab house that actually closed before the pub did, which seems slightly counter intuitive, after all, as they taste best after a few rounds.

  • Secure Banking Part Deux

    Well, HSBC did get back to me, and quite frankly, I'm still disappointed with them. Apparently, they won't actually even begin looking at my complaint until they can tie it to my account. Presumably they're using some daft computer system concocted by a sadistic management team who have little understanding of how things work in the real world.

  • How Do You Use Facebook Chat?

    Today I read about how Facebook have opened up their chat to allow external messenger clients to connect via the Jabber/XMPP. Being a bit of a geek, I decided how difficult it would be to get my messenger to connect to Facebook. Now, I'm quite a fan of Kopete, which is great in its latest incarnation, as it integrates well with KNotify (a messaging system used in KDE 4) and lets me connect to as many messenging protocols as I can sign up for and aquire friends on!

@firefox even faster than CTRL/command click, middle click with the scroll wheel. Great for closing tabs too.

Back again at the office for #tmwhackday tension mounting and last minute "tweaks" being made. S*** just got real!
