Me Vs WoW Tech Support

Been in India now for just over a week, and starting to feel homesick, but hopefully that should pass when I really get into the work.

Finally got the problem sorted out with WoW after many ridiculous emails to the WoW people. One of the wonderful pieces of advice I was given was an absolute blinder, and I'm surprised they can even employee people of this calibre!

"Thank you for your mail, could you double-check you are at World of WarcraftEU.com and not World of Warcraft.com? The latter is the American site and would not recognise your details."

Now, lets look for the really obvious mistake. Spotted it yet? OK, I'll tell you. Domain names cannot contain spaces. I brushed this off as their way of making the URL easier to read, as 3 words joined into one might induce more typing mistakes. So, I put the URL into the address bar of Firefox, sans spaces, and lo and behold, the EU site they suggested doesn't actually work, and in fact, it goes to one of those awful doorway pages.

I eventually found the right URL, and was able to successfully log on to the site, but what I didn't understand was why I was not even able to log on to the American version of the site, even if I was only to be redirected immediately to the European site.

I'll let you know how successful the downloading is when it's finished, as it's only taken a week or so...
