Using mod_rewrite

For some reason, using the Apache mod_rewrite to aid with SEO has always been something I put off. Despite being fairly adept with regular expressions, I was almost scared of using the .htaccess file for anything more than the mundane. Today I decided to stop being such an idiot and get on with it.

There were a few hicoughs (the proper term for hiccups) at the start, which was inevitable really, like infinate rewrite loops and such, but I got it licked in the end. Hopefully this will be beneficial for the SEO purposes, although the previous links, although of the 'dynamic' kind, all contained the words which now exist inside of the filename itself, so the actual benefit is likely to be a lot less than most SEO 'experts' would have you believe.
